Khichari
Khichary made using AMMASEEMA Punjabi Curry Paste
1 cup rice
1 cup orange daal
1 jar Curry Paste
1 teaspoon salt
8 cups water
Wash and drain rice and daal. Add all the ingredients above in a pot. Cook on medium heat until rice and daal are mushy. Khichari should be the consistency of porridge when done. Add more water as needed. Garnish with browned onion and the oil it was browned in, and cilantro as desired. Gram masala may be sprinkled on top. Serve by itself. Plain yogurt goes well with it. (Serves 4 or 5)
